What Happens if My Domain Expires?

The Domain Expiration Process

When a domain is not renewed on time, it goes through several stages before becoming available to the public:

  1. Day 0 — Expiration: The domain expires. Your website and emails may stop working.
  2. Days 1-30 — Grace Period: You can renew at the normal price. The site may be down.
  3. Days 31-45 — Redemption Period: You can recover it by paying an additional, elevated fee.
  4. Day 45+ — Deletion: The domain is released and becomes available to anyone.
⚠️ Note: Exact times vary depending on the domain extension (.com, .net, .ve). .ve domains may have different periods.

My Domain Expired, What Do I Do?

Option 1 — Within the Grace Period (first 30 days)

  1. Log in to your PlatiniumHost Client Area
  2. Go to My Domains
  3. The domain will appear as expired with a "Renew" option
  4. Pay the renewal at the normal price

Option 2 — In the Redemption Period (days 31-45)

Open a support ticket indicating the domain. Recovery has a significant additional cost. Let's act fast.

Option 3 — Already Released

If someone else registered it, unfortunately, you can no longer recover it through us. You can contact the new owner or register a variation of the name.

✅ Prevention: Activate automatic renewal on your domain to never go through this. It is available in the Client Area → My Domains → Automatic Renewal.
